How It Started
How did my journey with the bees get started? I suppose it was always buzzing around the back of my mind. But as I expanded my garden year after year, the buzz came from the back of my mind to the front. It made sense after all, the plants need the bees, and the bees need the plants. The last 2 years I have been working on gaining knowledge as to how I would even begin. So here we are, starting this journey together, live! 2025 will be the beginning of bringing bees into my everyday garden life. I'm super excited, and oh so nervous!! But I'm ready as I ever will be, so bring on Spring!!
How It's Going
As I write this, it is January, a time for drawing in and staying warm. My life has become more reflective of the natural world as I dive deeper into gardening, herbalism, and now bees. The plants are sleeping, and the bees are hibernating. So right now, there isn't a whole lot going on for the bees and my journey. I am accruing supplies and finding the places to set up the hives. A time to dream and plan for now.
What's Next
The next steps will come as Spring inches closer. I have two hive boxes I will start with, assemble them together, make the preparations I need, and place them where they need to go. I then will source out to find the bees to take up residence in the garden. I have 2 different sources that I found locally to me. As local bees are the best way to have a healthier, stronger hive. Once the bees are here, we begin our journey deeper into the hive. I'm excited to share as I go, thank you for being here and supporting me on this new adventure.
